“I’m going to make everything around me beautiful - that will be my life.”
A few days ago my little sister called me and said she had the most perfect quote for me... she said "This is you…".
I am not over exaggerating when I say, this quote is literally the manifesto of my life. I seriously wake up every morning and go to sleep every night with daydreams of making everything around me beautiful! Luckily for almost half of my life, I have been blessed to do precisely just that!
I have been a designer and stylist for the past 10 years // with a whopping 6 of those years globetrotting this wonderful USA, designing, art directing, collaborating, and simply just beautifying anything I could get my hands on! With well over 75 home renovations and many more projects later, I find myself here, today, proud and giddy as can be to finally launch what has been my brain child (well, one of my brain childs :) for quite some time.
In my career thus far, I have met so many amazing people, worked on once in a lifetime projects, been a part of changing lives, have laid eyes on soo many different cities and cultures, worked with the best of the best and I literally (SCREAMING from the rooftops) can not wait to share it all with you!
For starters, the caravan of my design journey has not been too conventional // I worked as a design assistant straight out of college for the most wonderful, talented and nurturing Interior Designer by the name of Jill Wolff (love you Jilly!) and 4 years later my crazy lovely BFF Laurin, stole my resume and sent it into ABC's Extreme Makeover: Home Edition. You know that show, where a cast and crew come to a town, for a deserving family, knock down a house and rebuild it from the ground up in 106 hours. Yea that show! Well, Laurin sent my resume in 6 years ago... and a week later I was left with the decision to either finish college OR stop everything I'm doing, hop on an airplane (2nd airplane ride ever to be exact) and design half a house!
I think you know what I chose. AND I never looked back. With super duper to the billionth power supportive family, friends and co-workers, I got to live out my dream and still living them!
To talk about those dreams for a sec, I got BIG dreams, sometimes soo big I feel bad for my poor brain. // I want to open up a store, have my own lifestyle brand, write a book, throw amazing "design camp" workshops, live in a barn (who doesnt!), continue to do passion projects, get married in a forest, have a ton of kids, be a power mom, and live happily ever after. Pretty out of control list... but doable ;)
I crazily enough feel with every single molecule of my body that I will fulfill all of them…. That’s a cool feeling!
I end my (FIRST blog post... woo hoo!) with my 2013 New Year’s Resolution // Go into this journey, whatever journey it may be, with the intention “to make yourself proud". And this is what I fully intend to do.
